Hello Golf

Junior Membership at Carlisle Golf Club

Junior Membership at Carlisle Golf Club offers a friendly, supportive and well-structured environment where children and teenagers can learn golf, make friends and grow in confidence. Whether your child is picking up a club for the very first time or already enjoys playing, we provide a clear and welcoming pathway to help them develop and enjoy the game.

Our aim is simple - to make golf fun, accessible and rewarding for every junior who joins the club.

Parents can feel confident choosing Carlisle Golf Club. We have a strong, well-run junior section with over 90 junior members, where children are encouraged, supported and included from day one. Juniors are introduced to golf in a relaxed and friendly way, supported by structured coaching, regular competitions and clear guidance as they progress.

Safeguarding, enjoyment and positive experiences are at the heart of everything we do, helping every junior feel comfortable, supported and part of the club.

What Junior Membership Includes

Junior Members enjoy unlimited access to the golf course, allowing them to play and practise as often as they wish. Membership also includes use of the driving range, putting green, and chipping and pitching practice areas, giving juniors plenty of opportunity to develop their skills.

When a junior joins the club, they will receive a welcome pack, including a Carlisle Golf Club crested towel, helping them feel part of the club from the very beginning.

Junior membership also provides access to organised coaching sessions and a full programme of junior competitions throughout the season. All junior members are encouraged and supported to gain and maintain a WHS handicap, helping them track progress and enjoy competitive golf.

In addition, junior members benefit from a 10% discount card for bar and catering, adding extra value to membership. Junior membership prices can be found on our Subscriptions page.

Saturday Junior Group Coaching (Ages 7 - 13)

Our Saturday morning junior group coaching sessions are the main entry point for juniors joining Carlisle Golf Club. These sessions are ideal for both beginners and improving players and focus on developing skills, confidence and enjoyment of the game.

Sessions run every Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am and operate on a friendly roll-up, pay-as-you-go basis at a cost of £5 per session. The relaxed group environment helps juniors learn at their own pace while making friends and feeling part of the club.

No equipment is required to attend these sessions. Clubs can be loaned for any junior who would simply want to come along and try golf for the first time.

Competitions, Handicaps & Progression

Carlisle Golf Club has a well-organised junior competition programme, overseen by a dedicated Junior Organiser. Regular competitions provide a fun and supportive way for juniors to experience competitive golf, learn the rules and etiquette of the game, and build confidence on the course.

All junior members are encouraged to work towards gaining a WHS handicap, with guidance and support provided as they progress.

Safeguarding & Welfare

Carlisle Golf Club is proud to be SafeGolf Accredited, demonstrating our commitment to providing a safe, welcoming and positive environment for all junior members.

SafeGolf accreditation means that Carlisle Golf Club meets the England Golf safeguarding standards, with clear policies and procedures in place to protect children and young people. This includes safe recruitment practices, appropriate supervision, clear codes of conduct, and regular safeguarding training for those involved in junior golf.

We take safeguarding seriously and place the wellbeing, enjoyment and safety of our junior members at the heart of everything we do. Parents can be confident that juniors are supported in an environment that promotes respect, inclusion and positive experiences both on and off the golf course.
